Howard Durant Robertson, 81, of Columbus, MS passed away Monday, June 26, 2017, at his residence.
Visitation will be at Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS on Sunday, July 2, 2017, beginning at noon. A funeral service will follow on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Fairview Baptist Church with Dr. Breck Ladd officiating and Rev. Tommy Gillon assisting. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.
Howard was born on October 11, 1935, in Caledonia, MS to the late Renzo H. and Tollie Taylor Robertson. He attended Caledonia High School. Howard was an active member of Fairview Baptist Church where he was a member of Billy Bozeman's Sunday School Class. He was a member of the 31 st Dixie Division of the Army National Guard from 1958 – 1964. Howard was a member of the Gold Wing Road Rider's Association and a member of the 45 Hardee's Biscuit Club. He worked as the manager of Parker Appliance and Furniture Company for 57 years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Robertson was preceded in death by his brother Jimmy Ray Robertson.
Howard is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mildred Jean Robertson of Columbus, MS; sons, Howard Douglas (Amy) Robertson of Columbus, MS and Bobby Wayne (Blyth) Robertson of Marietta, GA; grandchildren, Taylor (Shelsey) Robertson of San Diego, CA, Steven (Lynn) Robertson of Columbus, MS, and Kyle (Haley) Robertson of Pearl, MS; step-grandchildren, Zack (Kelli) Foster of Caledonia, MS, Carley (Clint) Markham of Starkville, MS, Caitlyn Duffy of Atlanta, GA, Erin (Cory) Duffy of Chesapeake, VA; great-grandchildren, Anna and David Robertson both of Columbus, MS and Sawyer Foster of Caledonia, MS; sister-in-law, Evelyn Robertson of Columbus, MS; and niece Debbie (Chris) Crawley of Columbus, MS.
Pallbearers will be Hugh Saint, Chuck Batts, Ricky Lee, Chris Crawley, Jacob Crawley, and Chris Kinard. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Youngblood, Harold Youngblood, Eldon Barham, Jim Whitson, Wayne Smith, Bobby Marshall, Ernie Blackburn, Doug Burks, Smitty Burks, Bobby Gale, Billy Crossley, Rick Love, members of Billy Bozeman's Sunday School Class, members of the 45 Hardee's Biscuit Club, and members of the Gold Wing Road Rider's Association.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fairview Baptist Church's Children's Ministry, 127 Airline Road, Columbus, MS 39702 or 55+ Club.
