Ila Gray "Judy" Corbell Coggins, 90, of Columbus, MS passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at her residence. Visitation will be Monday, March 16, 2015 from 9:30 AM till 11:00 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 AM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel. A private family graveside service will be in Furnace Hill Cemetery, Vernon, AL with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Coggins was born May 6, 1925 in Lamar County, AL to the late Millie Hudson and Garvin Corbell. She had lived in this area for a lifetime and was a homemaker. Mrs. Coggins was a member of Deerbrook Baptist Church in Noxubee County for 30 years and was devoted to her church and community. When they moved to Lowndes County she became a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday school class in New Hope which brought her much joy. Mrs. Coggins was an avid hunter and loved fishing, gardening and playing cards. She was dedicated to serving those in need by cooking meals and visiting when she was able. She never met a stranger and tried to pass joy to all those she met. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband John Robert Coggins. Mrs. Coggins is survived by her son- John Coggins, Jr., Columbus, MS; daughters- Jeanette (John) Chancellor, Pickwick, TN, Janice Coggins, Scottsdale, AZ, Suzette Coggins, Denver, CO; sisters - Ruby (Leon) Atkins and Laverne (Jack) Price; grandchildren- John Chancellor, Jr. and Callie Zaugg; great-grandchildren- Lauren Daly, Leah Mckenzie, Kelsey Chancellor, Chase Chancellor, Chancellor Zaugg, Peyton Zaugg, Rainey Marie Zaugg and three great great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Don Rickman, Glenn Rickman, Johnny Rogers, Gene Corbell, Richard Bohon and Johnny Glasgow, all nephews of Mrs Coggins.
