Ms. Irene O. Smith, 91, of Columbus, MS passed away Monday, February 13, 2023, at Aurora Health and Rehabilitation Center.

A graveside service will be Monday, April 24, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Greenlawn Park, Columbus, MS.  Lowndes Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Irene was born on March 30,1931. She was raised by her step dad, the late R.W. Underwood and her mother, the late Maggie Bridges Underwood. She enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with family. In addition to her parents, Irene is preceded in death by her husband – Malcolm Owen Smith; a son – Mitchell Smith; and brother – James Underwood.

She is survived by her daughter – Carmen (Danny) Booker; son – Michael Smith; grandchildren – Michelle (Mike) Dolinar, John Booker, and Melodie (Craig) Blease; great-grandchildren – Maxx, Madi, Grace, Brett, and Bennett; sister – Mary Alice (Alvin) Bobo and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Sunflower Grocery on Military Road for all of their kindness to her for many years. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Aurora Health and Rehab for all of the good care that was given to her for the last 4 years.
