Isadora Lemmons Stevens
Mrs. Stevens was born in her home in Osborn, Mississippi on August 7th, 1929 to the
late Clarence and Myrtle Lemmons. She was an active member of East End Baptist Church
until her health began to fail. She enjoyed visiting the Smokey Mountains, traveling out west,
loved sewing, cooking, gardening, and artwork.
She started school in a one-room schoolhouse in Osborn then graduated from
Starkville High School. She attended MSCW but interrupted her studies to get married. After
her children were in school, she went back to MSCW and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree
in elementary education. She taught in Kennedy, Alabama, and East Lowndes Academy
before becoming a social worker. She retired from the Lowndes County Department of
Human Services after twenty-four years where she worked with foster children and families.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Albert
Stevens, brothers, Clyde "Jake" and Robert T "Binky" Lemmons. She is survived by her sister,
Sarah Dell Sears of Clinton, Mississippi, and children, Johnnie Stevens of Arkansas, Walter and
Peter Stevens of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Claudia Guy and Patricia Alvarez of Columbus,
Mississippi. She is also survived by her grandchildren Steven Guy (Stephanie) of Hubert,
North Carolina, Ben Guy (Katisha) of Gordo, Alabama, John Patrick Stevens of Columbus,
Mississippi, and Gina Ho8man (Ryan) of Centerton, Arkansas; great-grandchildren Sebastion
Crowell of Hubert, North Carolina, Jaden Driver (Nic) and Zoe Guy of Gordo, Alabama,
Michael, Titus, David, and Luke Ho8man of Centerton, Arkansas. She is also survived by her
uncle Murray Scoggins of Starkville, Mississippi, aunt Dell Franklin of Arlington, Texas, sisters-
in-law Louise Lemmons of Columbus, and Eunice Lemmons of Starkville, Mississippi, niece
Yvette Forrester of Starkville, Mississippi, nephews David Sears of Montreal, Canada, Scott Sears of Clinton, MS and
Todd Sears (Holly) of Oxford, Florida, and great-niece Maggie Duggin (Matt) of Huntsville,
Alabama and their children Arabella and Briella.
Honorary Pallbearers are Golda Vandiver, and the Winsome Sunday School Class,
Curtis and Caroll Pritchett, Sergio Alvarez, Byron Benson, and the sta8 and members of East
End Baptist Church, and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
