Iven "Ike" Lee Russell, 69, of Columbus, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle.
Ike Russell was born December 13, 1949, in Shelby County, TN, to the late William and Allie Adams Russell. He was raised in New Orleans, LA. Ike joined the Coast Guard in 1967 where he served as a helicopter pilot, he flew rescue missions off ice breakers and had traveled to both the North and South Poles. He lived much of his life in Houston, MS, having owned Windshield Magic and Body Magic among other businesses in the Houston area. Ike moved to the Columbus area where he owned Magnolia State School Supplies until his retirement. He was known for his Big Personality and he enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Ted and Dewayne Russell.
Mr. Russell is survived by his wife Lanelle Russell, two children: Jason (Laurie) Bailey of Tupelo and Shannon (Justin) Willis of New Hope; grandchildren: Allie Russell, Brewer Bailey, Emma Willis, Carson Willis, Addison Willis and Bella Bailey; brother John Michael Russell; uncle Paul Russell and the mother of his children Sandra Russell.
