James Earl Beasley, 70 of Columbus, MS passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – GT, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from 6-9 pm at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Graveside services will be Friday, May 3, 2013 at 11 am in Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken, S.C. with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Beasley was born February 15, 1943 in Detroit, AL to the late Emmett Othell Beasley and Willie Lou Winsett Beasley. He was a member of McBee Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Beasley was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and he worked for Weyerhaeuser for over 20 years. He enjoyed working on old tractors and cars and spending time with his grandchildren.a In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Betty Helen Thomason Beasley. Mr. Beasley is survived by sons, James Damon ( Michelle) Beasley, Caledonia, MS and James Darren (Deedra) Beasley, Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Macy Christian Beasley , Logan Matthew Beasley, Darian Brooke Beasley and James Michael Beasley, 4 half-sisters and 3 half-brothers. Pallbearers will be Dennis Barton, Anthony Barton, Donald Jones, Herbert Thomason, Gary Duke and John Purtell. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Donny Stokes, Nurses and Staff of Baptist Memorial Hospital and Hospice.
