James Bobitt "Uncle Bubba the Muffin Man" James Floyd Bobitt, 78, of Columbus, MS passed away July 27, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital- GT, Columbus, MS. Visitation was Monday, July 29, 2013 from 10 - 11 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home Columbus, MS. A graveside service was held Monday, July, 29, 2013 at 11:30 AM at Mt. Vernon Church Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Rev. Jimmy Ray officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Bobitt was born February 16, 1935 in Columbus, MS to the late Lee Roy and Oma Loye Baker Bobitt. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Church, Columbus, MS and was also a member of Shriner, Mason, Odd Fellows and the Home Builders Association. Mr. Bobitt was the owner of Bobitt Building Company and he and his sons loved to travel though-out the south remodeling churches. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bobitt is preceded in death by his second wife, Leota Bobitt and 2 sisters - Dahra and Laura Bobitt. Mr. Bobitt is survived by his former wife- Blanche Bobitt, Columbus, MS; sons- Frank Bobitt, Chapin, SC and Lane Bobitt, Columbus, MS; sisters- Barbara Bobitt Jaynes, Jackson, MS, Joyce Bobitt (Don) Miller, Columbus, MS, Cleta Bobitt (Aubrey) Collums, Marks, MS; brother- Keith (Gloria) Bobitt, Birmingham, AL; grandchildren- Tiffany Thomas, Maris Bobitt, Malin Bobitt; 2 Great-Grandchildren; 5 Nieces and 1 Nephew. Pallbearers were Chip Miller, Tom Younger, George Pridmore, Herbert Junkin, DeWayne Clark, Cliff Baswell, and Aubrey Collums. Honorary Pallbearers were James Richardson and the Doctors and Nurses at Baptist Memorial Hospital Critical Care Unit.
