James Randolph Brown James Randolph Brown, 87 of Columbus, MS passed away, Sunday, May 22, 2011 at his residence. Visitation for Mr. Brown will be Monday, May 23, 2011 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services for Mr. Brown will be Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Columbus, MS with Bro. Steve Lammons officiating, Bro. Jeff James, Bro. Andy Pearson & Bro. Gene Gillis assisting. Mr. Brown will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbus, MS. Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Brown was born April 10, 1924 to the late Eulie & Mattie Lou Gardner Brown in Pickens County, AL. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He moved to Columbus in 1946 from Gordo, AL, was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was employed at Ray Oldsmobile in new automobile sales. He played Semi-Professional Basketball, was a Mason, a member of the V.F.W. and a charter member of the Columbus Civitan for 55 years. He was the director of the Mississippi Automobile Association, served as president of the Lowndes County Board of Education for 16 years and on the Board for 18 years. He was on the Lowndes County Recreation Commission for 10 years and a Charter Member of the East Lowndes Water Association. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and watching his grandchildren play. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brown is preceded in death by his wife - Annie Lou Gore Brown, daughter - Peggy Ann Brown and sister - Catherine Brown Ray. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife - Carolyn Hudnall Brown, Columbus, MS, daughter - Beverly Brown (Joe) Reeder - Columbus, MS, sons - Donnie (Lura) Brown - Columbus, MS, Terry (Andra) Brown - Columbus, MS & Doug (Lori) Brown - Columbus, MS, Step-sons - Charlie (Merill) Hudnall - Huntsville, AL & Joey (Neely) Hudnall - Madison, MS, Sisters - Faye Cox Crosby - Columbus, MS, Jean Brown James - Columbus, MS & Jewell Brown Woodward - Columbus, MS, Grandchildren - Maris (Brad) Braddock, Meredith (Matt) Weeks, Cody Brown, Chas Brown, Boomer Brown, Jordan Brown, Jodi Brown, Anna Douglas Brown, Great-Grandchildren - Austin Braddock, Bryce Braddock, Ethan Weeks, Step Grandchildren - Erin, Madison & Kendall Hudnall, Harper & Hamp Hudnall. Pallbearers will be Cody Brown, Chas Brown, Boomer Brown, Jordan Brown, Matt Weeks, Brad Braddock, Austin Braddock, Bryce Braddock, Ethan Weeks, Honorary Pallbearers will be W.V. West, Buddy Godfrey, John Gore, Members of the Columbus Civitan Club, Jimmy Ray Robertson, Veterans of WWII, Harold Barton, Walter Long, Herbert Junkin, Jason Hanson, Jimmy T. Williams, Curtis Collums, and Jimmy Brown.
