James Byrd James Neal Byrd, 54 of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Sacred Heart Hospital - Emerald Coast, Miramar Beach, FL. Visitation will be held Friday, December 9 from 1 - 2 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 9 at 2 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS with Bro. Sammy Crawford officiating and Bro. Kenny Johnson and Bro. David Dees assisting. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Byrd was born April 22, 1957 in Waterloo, IA to Helen Byrd and the late James Byrd. He moved to Columbus 25 years ago from Laurel, MS. Mr. Byrd worked as a CPA with Dowdle Enterprises. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting model trains. In addition to his mother, Mr. Byrd is survived by his wife - Janice Byrd, Columbus, MS; daughter - Katelin Byrd, Columbus, MS; and brother - Donald Byrd, Cedar Falls, IA. Pallbearers will be Lewis Sharp, Keith Savely, Kevin Cole, Bill Laws, Jay King, and John Dowdle. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nutie Dowdle, Howard Sharp, and Larry Baird.
