Obituary

James Kermit "J.K." Conner, 72, of Steens, MS passed away June 28, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT. Visitation will be on July 1, 2015 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Lowndes Funeral Home in Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be on July 2, 2015 at 2:00pm at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Ray officiating. Interment will be at Friendship Cemetery in Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Conner was born on November 15, 1942 to the late Aaron and Annie Lucille Gibson Conner in Neshoba County, MS. He was employed as a crane operator for 39 years at Glenn Machine Works, and he was a member of McBee Baptist Church in Columbus, MS. He was a former police auxiliary officer, boat motor repairman, avid outdoorsman, and great marksman. Mr. Conner was very handy and could fix anything. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son-James Christopher "Chris" Connor; his sisters-Barbara Tork and Linda Hall; and a brother-Jerry Connor. He is survived by his wife Gay Nell Conner of Steens, MS; daughter-Amy (James Mark) York of Caledonia, MS; grandchild-Ashley Pounders; great-grandchild James Kaden Jenness; and brother-Aaron (Betty) Conner. Pallbearers will be Shay Higdon, Mark York, Kenny Hall, Jeff Kimbrell, Andy Glenn, and Chris Glenn. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sonny Glenn, Jody Thompson, James Hall, Dr. Adam Smith, Dr. J. B. Williams, Dr. Edward Crocker, and Urologist Specialist. Memorials may be made to McBee Baptist Church Building Fund, 2846 Hwy 50 E, Columbus, MS 39702.
