James Louis Cooper, 75 of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Cooper was born September 21, 1938 in Oktibbeha County to the late Samuel Grover and Bertha Lee Chandler Cooper. He was a native of Columbus, MS for the past thirty-six years. Mr. Cooper was a member of Community Baptist Church, the Local Union 917 IBEW, Meridian, MS since March 14, 1958. Before his retirement in 2007 he worked as an Electrical Engineer at United Technology. Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife of 36 years-Sarah Rebecca Turner Cooper, Columbus, MS; children-Ann Thornton, Florence, AL,Wanda (Albert) McBrayer, Columbus, MS, Lisa (Mark) Winstead, Columbus, MS, Linda Cooper, Destin, FL, Jamie (Paul) Stuart, Columbus, MS, Kelly Jo (Brad) Lyle, Huntsville, AL, Kim (Fred) Hansard, Demopolis, AL and Johnny Jackson, Enterprise, MS; sisters-Mildred Garner, Mobile, AL and Martha Shillingsburg, Starkville, MS; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
