James Franklin Williams, 66 of Columbus, MS passed away Friday, July 12, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - GT, Columbus, MS. A memorial service will be held Monday, July 15, 2013, at 2 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS with Bro. James Gardner officiating. Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Williams was born November 4, 1946, in Lowndes County, MS to the late Brady Eugene and Willie Pearl Williams. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired as an equipment operator for the Lowndes County Road Department, Columbus, MS after 34 years of service. Mr. Williams was of the Baptist faith and was a former Mason Shriner and member of the Scottish Rite. He was a fan of Andy Griffith, Rawhide Bonanza, and other old Western shows and movies. Mr. Williams also enjoyed working outside. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife - Ruby McCool Williams, Columbus, MS; sons - Gene (Shanna) Williams and Andy Williams, both of Jackson, MS; sister - Abigail Bolen, Columbus, MS; grandchild - Mason Williams; and special friends - Tony Kidd, Travis Berry, and Barbara and Danny Rushing.
