James E. Glenn, 95 of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Generations of Vernon, Vernon, AL.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 26, 2023, from 1:30 – 2:30 PM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Columbus, MS.  A funeral service will follow at 2:30 with Dr. Bill Hurt officiating and Bro. David Honeycutt assisting.  The interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Glenn was born December 29, 1927, in Hickory, MS to the late William Ed Glenn and Lula Halford Glenn.  He was a veteran of World War II where he served as a Merchant Marine.  Mr. Glenn was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 35 years and loved his church family dearly.  He worked as a machinist for 33 years, 30 of those years were with Kerr McGee.  Mr. Glenn loved spending time with his family and was an avid crappie fisherman.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Glenn was preceded in death by his wife – Dorothy Shook Glenn; son – James Mitchell Glenn; daughter – Nancy Glenn Purcell; 4 brothers – Lonnie Glenn, Leroy Glenn, John Otha Glenn, and Clarence Henton Glenn; 3 sisters – Lora Glenn Fuller, Mary Gertrude Glenn, and Mattie Jo Cleveland.

Mr. Glenn is survived by his daughters – Barbara Coleman, Linda Bordeaux, and Beverly (David) Wheeler; sons – Edwin L. "Butch" Glenn and Alan (Billie Sue) Glenn; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Blake Wheeler, Britt Glenn, Mike Coleman, Chris Purcell, Gabe Boykin, and Noah Baggett.  Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene Hutcherson, Barney Conn, Dale Brewer, Gary Smith, Roy and Hilda Beatty, Dean and Bruce Patrick, Don Pennington, Kenneth Sisson, his church family, his former co-workers at Kerr McGee, Generations of Vernon Staff and nurses with Kindred and Amedysis Hospice.
