TSgt James F. "Jim" Hoopes, age 85, of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017.
TSgt James F. Hoopes, U. S. Air Force (retired), served his country in the U. S. Army and Air Force for over 24 years with multiple tours in the Korean and Vietnam wars respectively.
A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS, with Father Robert Dore officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.
Mr. Hoopes was born October 25, 1931, to the late Robert Major and Florene Mae Hoopes in Media, PA . Blessed with the "gift of gab", Jim rarely met a stranger and was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. He was a teacher, mentor, trainer, role model, and friend to all.
Survivors include his wife- Wanda Nichols Hoopes, Columbus, MS; children-Jeff (Barbara) Hoopes, Manassas Park, VA; Theresa (Dale) Pendley, Columbus, MS; Ellen (Shannon) Bowles, Millport, AL; grandchildren-Richard Ammerman, Valerie Hoopes, Angela Collins, Drew Hoyt, Russell Pendley; and great grandchildren-Austin Collins and Michael Collins. He is also survived by sister-Doris Stokes; sister-in-law-Peggy Hoopes; nieces-Mary Ann Garvey and Patty Stokes; and great nephew-Jim Ronan, Jr.
