James Cole Humphreys, 74, of Starkville, MS formerly Duncanville, TX, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2020, at his residence.
The Celebration of Jim's life is scheduled for Sunday, February 9, 2020, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at 348 Windy Meadow, Cedar Hill, Texas, 75104. Please join us to honor and remember Jim with stories, food, and fellowship.
James Cole Humphreys lived a good life. He was a businessman who had the privilege of serving Duncanville ISD as the Director of Transportation for many years. He also worked with the Region 10 Education Service Center, teaching and mentoring bus drivers throughout the region. Education was important to him, getting his Bachelor's degree at the young age of 57. He worked with adults, as well as students, hoping to encourage and inspire them all. Jim loved to read, always reflecting on history, as well as positivity. Jim was known by many, loved by all. While he was a man of few words, his actions spoke volumes.
James Cole Humphreys was born August 13, 1945, in Dallas, Texas, to Faye (Rogers) and Charles Alexander Humphreys, Jr. He passed from this life on January 23, 2020. Jim is survived by his wife Jamie (Meeks) Humphreys, son Kevin Humphreys and wife Tracy, daughter Lisa (Frye) Romo and husband William, Aaron Chowning and wife Janet, Jill (Meeks) Schoonover and husband Chris, Joni (Meeks) Young, grandchildren Lindsey (Humphreys) Oliver and husband Harry, Mason Frye and wife Eron, Gage Frye, Piper Frye, Lucah Frye, Alyssa Schoonover, Mylen Chowning, Aivlyn Chowning.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you make a donation to the ASPCA (at aspca.org) or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at (pulmonaryfibrosis.org) in his honor.
