James Ruben "Frank" McCollum, 80 of Columbus, MS passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Tuscaloosa Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Tuscaloosa, AL.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 15, 2017, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.
Mr. McCollum was born February 4, 1937, to the late Frank and Ruby McCollum in Artesia, MS. He was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Air Force and retired after 22 years of service. Mr. McCollum was of the Baptist faith, enjoyed MSU Football and loved his pets, Oscar and Bailey. After his retirement from his military service, Mr. McCollum worked at Marvin's, and Walmart. In addition to his parents, Mr. McCollum was preceded in death by his brother – Buddy McCollum.
Mr. McCollum is survived by his wife - Elizabeth J. McCollum, Columbus, MS; daughters – Brooke (Paul) Mace, Port Charlotte, FL and Shirley (Mike) Baucom, Columbus, MS; sons – Craig (Angie) McCollum, Orange Beach, AL and Scott McCollum, Birmingham, AL; sister – Rubye (Ken) Canida, Columbus, MS; grandchildren – Clay McCollum, Clark (Lacy) McCollum, Lindsey Stover, Cameron Stover, Chase McCollum, Rebecca (Andrew) Chase, Zachary McCollum; great-grandchildren – William Chase, Bryce McCollum and Sawyer McCollum ; and special caregiver – Dwanna Neal.
