James Edward "Jim" Patton James Edward "Jim" Patton, 72 of Columbus, MS passed away, Friday, March 11, 2011 at his residence. Visitation for Mr. Patton will be Sunday, March 13, 2011 from 3:00 – 5:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be Monday, March 14, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at New Hope Baptist Church, Starkville, MS with Bro. Charles Mullins and Bro. Sammy Crawford officiating. Interment will be in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Starkville, MS. Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Patton was born January 3, 1939 in Lafayette County Mississippi to the late Robert Emmitt and Nellie Maynor Patton. He was a resident of Columbus, MS for the past 44 years having moved from West Point, MS. Mr. Patton served in the Army National Guard and received the Marksman Medal (Carbine) and Expert Medal (Carbine) He retired as a salesman from Copen Associates. He was a longtime member of Green Oaks Golf Club and loved his favorite pet "Scooter". In addition to his parents, Mr. Patton is preceded in death by his sister, Helen Marie Patton and brothers, Robert E. Patton, Jr. and William J. Patton. Mr. Patton is survived by his wife - Dot Patton, Columbus, MS, son – James Edward (Jeanine) Patton, II, Monroe, LA, Daughters - Tamela Dawn Patton, Memphis, TN and Tiffany (John) Patton Browning , Columbus, MS, Step-Children - Denise (George) Mitchell O'Brian, Columbus, MS, Rusty (Cindy) Mitchell, Columbus, MS, Robbie (Pat) Mitchell, Birmingham, AL, Michelle Mitchell, Columbus, MS, sister - Mae (Jim) Wiginton, Corinth, MS, Grandchildren – Charlie (Audrey) Patton, Trey Frayser, Georgie Browning, Sarah Browning, Gili Patton, Chris (Nikki) O'Brian, Tori O'Brian, Great-grandchildren – Luke O'Brian, Lane O'Brian and Tenley O'Brian. Pallbearers will be John Browning, Trey Frayser, Charlie Patton, George "Dink" O'Brian, Rusty Mitchell, Robbie Mitchell. Honorary Pallbearers were Friends of Green Oaks Golf Club and The West Point Breakfast Club. Memorials may be made to MidSouth Lions, 930 Madison Suite 101, Memphis, TN 38103.
