James "Pug" Edward Forrester

James “Pug” Edward Forrester, 78, of Columbus, MS, passed away Monday, June 29, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT in Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be Monday, July 6, 2026, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Service will be Monday, July 6, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home with Bro. Jaron Andrews officiating. There will be a private graveside service following. Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS entrusted with all arrangements.

James, AKA Pug, was born on November 24, 1947, to the late William “Bill” Forrester and Onie Dawkins Forrester. Pug loved fishing and spending time on the river. He enjoyed woodworking and traveling in his motorhome. In addition to his parents, Pug is preceded in death by his brother, Billy Forrester.

James is survived by his wife, Rita Eads Forrester; daughter, Heather (Jeremy) Lumsden of Columbus, MS; son, Heath (Cordie) Forrester of Columbus, MS; grandchildren, Hays (Kailey) Lumsden and Mallory (Ethan) Rollins; great grandchildren, Lennie Kate Lumsden, 2 more on the way, Lucy Jane Rollins and Archer Lumsden; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Forrester, Jason Forrester, Jason Cole, Shawn Forrester, Greg Gee, and Bryan Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be present and past employees of Mt. Vernon Mills, and Dr. Stanback.
