Obituary

James E. Robinson James Elbert Robinson, 84 of Caledonia, MS passed away Friday, June 3, 2011 at his residence. Visitation was held Sunday, June 5, 2011 from 5 PM – 8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus MS. Funeral Services were held Monday, June 6, 2011 at 10 AM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ben Butler and Bro. Don Harding officiating. Interment will be in Robinson Family Cemetery, Caledonia, MS with private family services; Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Robinson was born August 13, 1926 in Fulton, MS to the late Elbert Levirt and Annie Louise Morris Robinson. He was a lifetime resident of Lowndes Co, Caledonia, MS and attended Caledonia High School. Mr. Robinson was a farmer all of his life, owner of Robinson Grocery for 50 years. He also enjoyed being with his family, playing music and dancing. He was a self-taught musician, played the steel guitar, spoons, and ukulele. After single handedly building his beloved camp house and bar-b-que put, he loved hosting friends and family. He served in the U.S. Navy, was a member of the American Legion, the Farm Bureau and Caledonia Methodist Church where he served as a trustee. He was a thirty-second degree Scottish Rite Mason and was a member of the NRA and ASC. He was awarded the Woodland Award by the Lowndes County Soil Waste Conservation District in 1991. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lauerne Kidd Robinson, Caledonia, MS; three daughters, Martha (James) Goolsby, Caledonia, MS; Diane (Kenneth) Pounders, Caledonia, MS; Pam (Chuck) Easley, Caledonia, MS; sister, Ann (Elzie) Murphy, Caledonia, MS; 8 grandchildren, Scott Goolsby, Brad Goolsby, Laura Beth Goolsby Vernon, Chris Fowlkes, Lindsey Easley Nicholson, Ali Mara Easley, Ashley Pounders and Wesley Pounders; 10 great grandchildren, Jordan Simpson Goolsby, Stella and Quinn Goolsby, Jay, Jack Hudson, and Isabelle Vernon, Maddie and Paxton Fowlkes and Drew and Abby Pounders; one niece, Sharon Garriga and one nephew, Tim Murphy. Pallbearers were Danny Atkins, Bill Lawrence, grandsons, Scott Goolsby, Brad Goolsby, Christ Fowlkes, Ashley Pounders, and Wesley Pounders. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Blalock, Douglas Holliman, Elzie Murphy, Searcy Egger, Skip Egger, Tim Murphy, Mack Egger, Winston Ferguson, Max Watson, Mike Fowlkes, Wayne Duncan, Hoot Garriga, Robert Lee Loftis, Wayne Creekmore, Elzy Dowdle, W. V. West, R. J. Jacobs, Hershel Gallop, men of Caledonia Methodist Church and all his music friends, employees of Apac Gravel Company, Dr. George Housley, Dr. Dailey, Dr. Min Kim, Dr. Michael Duckworth and staff of Baptist Hospice.
