James Howard Westberry, age 86, of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at his residence.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A second visitation will be held on Sunday, July 1, 2018, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Rinehart and Sons, Jesup, GA. A graveside service will follow on Sunday, July 1, 2018, at 2:00 PM in Jesup Cemetery, Jesup, GA with Rev. Mitch Thompson officiating.

Mr. Westberry was born on September 4, 1931, in Wayne County, Georgia to the late A. Lonzo and Mabelle Robinson Westberry. He loved working around his farm and enjoyed gardening. Mr. Westberry worked as a maintenance machinist at Weyerhauser and after 49 years he retired in 2001. He was a member of the U.S. Army and was also a member of New Salem Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife- Ruth Sapp Westberry, his sisters- Doris Thornton, Hazel Coleman, Evelyn Hammond, and Valrie Farmer, and his brothers- Clifford Westberry, C.L. Westberry, Vernon Westberry.

Mr. Westberry is survived by his son- Charles (Marsha) Westberry of Columbus, MS; grandchild- Heather (Dominik) Fuhrmann of Georgetown, IN; great-grandchildren- Avery Fuhrmann and Sinclaire Fuhrmann; sister- Virginia Padgett; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Miller, Jerry Miller, Robert Thornton, Larry Sapp, Buddy Sapp, and Wilton Sapp. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Starling, Bob Webster, Ronnie Westberry, David Westberry, Bruce Woodard, Ernie Holt, Harris Howard, Ricky Bennett, J.A. Beaver, and Eddie Driggers.
