Mary "Jane" Harper, 88, of Columbus, MS, died peacefully in her sleep at Baptist Memorial Hospital- GT on  Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 9:15 P.M.

Visitation will be Monday, June 16, 2025, from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home in Columbus, MS. Funeral Service will be Monday, June 16, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home in Columbus, MS, with Bro. Tommy Gillon officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens in Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Jane was born January 17, 1937, in Quitman, MS, to the late Willie Avera and Virginia Mathis Avera. She was a longtime member of Fairview Baptist Church in Columbus, MS. Mrs. Jane worked as a Bookkeeper for many years and retired from Sears and Dairy Fresh.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jane was preceded in death by her husband- Clarence Lamar Harper, three brothers, and 1 sister.

Mrs. Jane is survived by her daughter- Cheryl L. Harper of Birmingham, Alabama; son- Kenneth L. Harper; granddaughter- Loreleigh Harper (Sean) Schubert; sisters- Joyce Avera Birdsong of Meridian, MS and Beddie Avera Covington of Union, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
