Jean Flood, 74, of Columbus, Ms passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 29, 2023, at New Covenant Baptist Church, Columbus, MS.  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM with Bro Ed Nix and Bro P.J. Mortensen officiating.  A graveside service will be held Monday, January 30, 2023, at Ebenezer Cemetery in Vina, AL with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Jean was born on July 7, 1948, in Vina, AL to the late Alvin Sartain and Gertha Humphries Sartain.  She was a devoted member of New Covenant Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir.  For fourteen years she served as the secretary at the Lowndes County Schools.  She worked many jobs during her life including Gibson's, Hardins Chevrolet, and as an operator at the phone company.  Ms. Flood loved collecting items for her home and growing plants, and she especially loved her animals.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son – Stephen Flood, and brother David Sartain.

Mrs. Flood is survived by her husband Russell William Flood; sister – Ann (Joe) Barnes; and cousin – Carol O'Ettle.
