Jerry Donald Burkhalter, Sr. , 64, of Kennedy, AL passed away Thursday, October 01, 2015, at Palliative and Comfort Care Unit at UAB, Birmingham, AL. Visitation will be Sunday, October 4, 2015, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A Funeral Service will be Monday, October 5, 2015, at 2:00 PM at New Salem Baptist Church, Reform, AL with Bro. Mike Hall officiating and Bro.Mike Perrigan assisting. Interment will be at Shady Grove Cemetery, Reform AL with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Burkhalter was born on July 25, 1951, to the late Aubrey Burkhalter and Beatrice Kyles Burkhalter in Kennedy, AL. He was a Supervisor at Weyerhaeuser Company, Columbus, MS for 40 years. Mr. Burkhalter was a member of New Salem Baptist Church, Reform, AL. He loved his family, and in his spare time, he loved spending time outdoors; and he loved Alabama football. He is survived by his wife-Cathy Fowler Burkhalter; Kennedy, AL; daughter Jana (David) Fulgham, Kennedy, AL; son-Jay (Shelly) Burkhalter, Helena, AL; son-Bubba Suter, Macon, MS; daughter-Jessica Suter; grandchildren-Brooklyn Fulgham, Nathan Fulgham, Abbie Suter, Coleman Burkhalter, and Haley Suter; brothers-James (Brenda) Burkhalter, Fayette, AL and Junior (Cindy) Burkhalter, Reform, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Pallbearers will be David Burkhalter, Jonathan Burkhalter, Cody Burkhalter, Daniel Burkhalter, Jimmy Bell, Randall Trull, Phillip Black, Doug Bolling, and Grady Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Former and Present Employees of Weyerhauser, Staff of Palliative and Comfort Care Unit at UAB.
