Jewel C. Watkins Jewel C. Watkins, 89 of Steens, MS passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Noland Hospital, DCH Medical Center, Tuscaloosa, AL. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011 from 10 – 11 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 12:30 PM at Shuqualak Cemetery, Shuqualak, MS with Bro. Donald Parker officiating; Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mrs. Watkins was born March 29, 1922 in Brookhaven, MS to the late Ira C. and Rosa S. McGuffie Coker. She was a lifetime resident of Steens, Lowndes Co., MS. Mrs. Watkins retired in 1988 from Old Hickory Steak House with 18 years of service. She enjoyed reading, working puzzle books and was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Millport, AL. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Luke M. Watkins; sons, Bobby Watkins, Johnny Watkins and grandson, Ronnie Watkins. Mrs. Watkins is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Frank) Craig, Steens, MS; Holly Barth, Columbus, MS; sons, Ronnie (Jane) Watkins, Caledonia, MS; Russell (Cheryl) Watkins, Ocean Springs, MS; Carey (Bella) Watkins, Washington, D.C.; Jimmy Watkins, Columbus, MS and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and family members. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Noland Hospital, Tuscaloosa, AL and Dr. Lance Busch.
