James Edward "Jim" Parsons, 81, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at his home.

A memorial service is scheduled for 4:00 PM, Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.

Mr. Parsons was born on October 24, 1941, in Miami, FL, to the late Joseph Charles Parsons and Ida Clarice Turrentine Parsons.  He served his country in the armed forces and as 2nd Vice-Commander at the American Legion Post 69.  For many years after his service, he worked with Boeing, Aerostructures, and Bell Helicopters.  He also loved fishing and playing poker.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Parsons is preceded in death by his brothers – Thomas Parsons and Joseph Parsons; and sister – Betty Sue Suggs.

Jim Parsons is survived by his wife – Pat McKelvy Parsons; three sons – James Lee Parsons, Frank Michael Parsons, and Thomas Nunn; grandchildren – Tori (Zach) Miller, Michael Parsons, Jimmy Parsons, and Kevin Nunn; great-grandchild – Emmett Miller; sister – Ida Cash; and sisters-in-law – Fran Parsons, and Betty (Tony) Walters.

Honorary pallbearers will be the American Legion Poker Club, Stephen Sims, Brandon Sims, Henry Barclay, and Pennington Lake Homeowners Association, LLC.
