Jimmy A. Austin of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at his residence.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 24, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. Services will be Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Columbus, MS with Bro. Steve Lammons officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery following the service with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Austin was born on January 27, 1948, in Columbus, MS, to the late Jessie Lou Nickoles Austin and Vannoy A. Austin, Jr. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. Mr. Austin was a United States Navy Veteran having served during Vietnam and served on the Lowndes County District 3 Fire Department for 30 years. He worked 30 years at United Technologies, Columbus, MS in the Maintenance/Safety Department, then went on to work at Hydrovac and American Eurocopter for many years. Mr. Austin was a member of the American Legion Post 69, Shriners, and Free Masons.  Mr. Austin enjoyed spending time with his son and grandsons hunting deer and chasing turkey. With his hobby interests, he was often known by "Bullet" to his many friends.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Austin is preceded in death by his wife- Peggy Brandon Austin.

Mr. Austin is survived by his son- Neal (Susan) Austin; grandchildren- Hunter (Sydney) Austin and Chase (Katie) Austin; great-grandchildren- River Austin, Liam Austin, and Slade Austin; brother- Larry (Angie) Austin; brothers-in-law- Pete (Cathy) Brandon, and Danny (Theresa) Brandon; sister-in-law- Donna (Sam) Wade; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Lowndes County District 3 Fire Department Honor Guard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Terry Nickoles, Gary Nickoles, Jerry Nickoles, and Randy Nickoles.
