Jimmy Wayne Deason, 69 of Columbus, MS passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Darlington Oaks Hospice, Verona, MS. Visitation was Monday, December 22, 2014 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services were Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Columbus, MS with Bro. Melvin Mordecai officiating and Bro. Gene O'Brien and Bro. Ralph Windle assisting. The body lie in state from 10:00-11:00 AM at the church. Interment was at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Deason was born April 19, 1945 in Columbus, MS to the late Vadus A. Deason and Zona Malone. He worked for Cooper Lighting, Vicksburg, MS as an Over the Road driver. Mr. Deason was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church, Ethelsville, AL and a former member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for 50 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #69, Columbus, Steens Community Center and an avid member of the YMCA Aquatic Classes. Mr. Deason served in the Mississippi National Guard. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law-Howard and Fausteen Powell and brother and sister-in-law-Rayford and Mary Ellen Deason. Mr. Deason is survived by his wife of 47 ½ years-Barbaranne Powell Deason, Columbus, MS; daughter-Taralynne Deason(Stacy) Bush, Millport, AL and son-Keilan W. (Dorine) Deason, Logansport, IN; grandchildren-Jasper Deason, Austin Bush, Nikki Bush; great-grandchild-Kamden Garcia; aunt-Mrs. Gracie Deason Champion; nieces and nephews-Debra Deason (Larry) Holder, Ashburn, VA, Karen Deason (Rodney) Putt, Kosciusko, MS, Judy Deason (Scott) Tilford, Traverse, MI, Lisa Deason (Rick)Ferguson, Pontotoc, MS, Tommy (Dawn) Deason, Columbus, MS, Casey and Kyndle Powell, Birmingham, AL, Christopher (Jessica) Renfroe and Amy R. (Scott) Russum, Raymond, MS; Emily, Ben and Graham Powell, Montgomery, AL and special cousins who were dear to his heart; great nieces and nephews- David Scott Holder, Lindsay Dickerson, Bethany Rae Philpot, Taylor Putt, Shae Ferguson, Jacob Ferguson, Ellen Tilford, Michael Tilford, Katie Deason and Kenzie Deason. Pallbearers were Keilan Deason, Stacy Bush, Joe Ables, Christopher Renfroe, Milton Hansen, Rodney Putt, Tommy Deason and Jimmy Cole. Honorary pallbearers were New Hope High School Class of 1963, Terry Oswalt , Willie Ray Oswalt, Bobby Parker, Ray Crane, Trenton Sheffield, Bobby Brandon, WA Caldwell and his "Y" friends.
