Jimmy Lynn Elkin, 85, of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Oxford.
A funeral service will be Friday, December 4, 2020, at 11:00 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS with Bro. Sammy Crawford officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Elkin was born on August 12, 1935, in Walthall, MS to the late Ruby Mitchell Elkin and Ernest Elkin. He served as a deacon, choir member, usher, and a Sunday School teacher at Fairview Baptist Church. He served in the United States Air Force as a TSGT for 20 years. Mr. Elkin was with the Lowndes County deputy sheriffs for over 27 years as an auxiliary officer, he also retired with the United States Post Office after 27 years. He enjoyed fishing, rabbit hunting, traveling, and coaching baseball in the park.
Mr. Elkin is survived by his wife- Sarah Henley Elkin of Columbus, MS; sons- Gary (Scarlett) Elkin of Columbus, MS, Donnie Elkin of Tupelo, MS and Ronnie (Emily) Elkin of Amory, MS; grandchildren- Jessica, Lacey, Mitchell, Blake, Sydney, Perrin, and Callan; great-grandchildren- Colyn, Emma, Chad, Bryce, Sawyer, and Amos.
