Jo Nell Alford, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2020, at D.C.H., Tuscaloosa, AL.

A memorial service will be Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Columbus, MS.

Mrs. Alford was born February 23, 1928, to the late Murray Valcus and Lilly Goolsby White in Winfield, AL. She married Jack D. Alford,  August 6, 1948, in Winfield, AL and they moved to Columbus from Huntsville, AL in 1975. Mrs. Alford was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.  She was a graduate of the University of Alabama where she received two bachelors degrees, one in Mathematical Education and the other in Vocational Home Economics.  Mrs. Alford taught math in Huntsville City Schools, Huntsville, AL, and Heritage Academy, Columbus, MS.  She was a lifetime member of Delta Kappa Gamma.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Alford was preceded in death by her husband – Jack D. Alford, Sr., and brothers – Murray White and William White.

Mrs. Alford is survived by her son- Jack (Lisa) Alford, Jr., Tuscaloosa, AL; daughters-Rebecca (Joe) Ready, Westminster, MD and Marilyn (Lance) Bennett, Cleveland, TN; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and brother – Daniel (June) White.
