Joe Wayne Pannell, 81, of New Hope passed away Monday, October 05, 2020, at Windsor Nursing Home, Columbus, MS.

We will be granting his wishes by celebrating his life with a family gathering and a private graveside tribute to his life at Hatley Cemetery, Hatley, MS.

Mr. Pannell was born on March 9, 1939, in Boonville, MS to the late Joe and Gracey Pannell. Wayne married Claudeen Hurley Loden of Amory and became the husband and father to Patricia, Debbie, and Kenny Loden, and later Mike and Vicky were born. Wayne leaves behind a lifetime of love for his family, friends, sports, Mississippi State, and St. Louis Cardinals. He was employed by Coy Glenn Farms for 36 years as a manager and then became overseer of what's now the Amory Golf Course. He later became a fish farmer in Noxubee County and sold cars at Pannell Auto Sales. Wayne was a sincere man in his Faith and was a member of Artesia Baptist Church, where he was a deacon for many years. As his health declined he enjoyed his worship through TV and music. Waynes most shared talent was his gardening skills, there was nothing he couldn't grow from huge gardens to garden tubs. His gardening was amazing and people were always stopping, admiring, and asking his secrets, which he freely gave. Up until the very, end, he wanted to be with his family and they with him. Mr. Pannell is preceded in death by his brother- Gerald Pannell, and sister- Bessie Barron.

Mr. Pannell survived by his wife- Claudeen Hurley Loden; daughters- Pat (Bill) Delk of Columbus, MS, Debbie (Bill) Montgomery of Starkville, MS, and Vicky (Nicky) Rogers of Macon, MS; sons- Mike (Teresa) Pannell of Nettleton, MS and Kenny Loden of Port St. Joe, FL; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters- Helen Bumpers of Kenosha, WI and Mary (Butch) Henderson of Booneville, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105, or to the donor's favorite charity.
