John Dwain Acker, 48 of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

A private graveside service will be Friday, April 3, 2020, at 1:30 PM at Oxford Memorial Gardens, Oxford, MS with Pastor Jason Delgado officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Acker was born February 18, 1972, to Dwain and Jo Murray Acker in Columbus, MS.   He was a 1990 graduate of Oxford High School where he was a 3 sport letterman and a 1995 graduate of Mississippi College where he lettered in football. Mr. Acker served as chairman of the Redevelopment authority of Columbus.  He was a State Farm Insurance Agent for 25 years, he was a member of the President's Club and Chairman's Council.  Mr. Acker was an avid supporter of Heritage Academy, he coached softball, basketball, baseball, football, soccer, and golf with Columbus Lowndes Recreation Authority.  He enjoyed running marathons, triathlons, hunting, and fishing.  Mr. Acker loved his faithful dog– Callie. He was a member of Vibrant Church, Columbus, MS.

Mr. Acker is survived by his daughters – Anna Acker and Mary Acker; son – Eli Acker; mother – Jo Murray Acker; father – Dwain Acker; sister – Suzanne Ryals; nephew – Beau Ryals and nieces – Emory Ryals and Morgan (Bob) Poole.

Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Summers, Jamie Ballard, and Kevin Flurry.
