John Landon Atkins, 71, of Millport, Alabama, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025, at Aliceville Manor Nursing Home in Aliceville, Alabama.

Visitation will be on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Service will be on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS, with Bro. Matthew Fancher officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery in Millport, Alabama. Lowndes Funeral Home will be directing.

Mr. Atkins was born May 27, 1954, in Millport, Alabama, to the late Maudine Odom and Dwight Atkins Sr. He loved watching Alabama Football and Atlanta Braves baseball. He loved listening to Gaither music and typing on his typewriter.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Atkins is preceded in death by his sisters- Winna L. Whitten and Sarah L. Atkins; brother –Dwight "Bud" Atkins, Jr. sisters-in-law- Nelda Atkins and Lorraine Atkins; brothers-in-law- Mike Cash, and Earnest Whitten.

Mr. Atkins is survived by his legal guardian, Byron Whitten of Millport, Alabama; sister, Nancy (Bo) Holman of Columbus, MS; brothers, Charles Atkins of Columbus, MS, and Luther Atkins of Columbus, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Family will assist pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Springhill Community and the staff and residents of Aliceville Manor Nursing Home.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
