John R. Brock John R. Brock, 76 of Columbus, MS passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at his residence. Visitation will be Sunday, March 11, 2012 from1:00 PM - 2:00 PM with a Memorial Service to follow at First United Methodist Church, Columbus, MS with Rev. Tony Proctor officiating and Rev. Anne Russell Bradley assisting, Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Brock was born April 28, 1935 to Ida Mae Satterfield Brock and the late T.J. Brock in Gainesville, GA. He served in the United States Air Force and received the Vietnam Service Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon and numerous letters of commendation. Mr. Brock retired from the USAF a Master Sergeant in 1974 where he worked as a Aircraft Mechanic on The Escape Systems. After retirement in 1975 he moved to Columbus from Bitburg Air Force Base Germany with his wife Patricia May Hunns Brock. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Columbus, MS, and enjoyed fishing, working on automobiles, woodworking and taking his grandsons to baseball games. In addition to his mother, Mr. Brock is survived by his wife - Patricia Hunns Brock, Columbus, MS, daughter - Donna Leigh (Robert) Fielder, Columbus, MS, sons - Robert John (Donna Marie) Brock, Lafayette, CO and Steven Richard (Sandy) Brock, Franklin, TN. 7 Grandsons - Paul Duke, Sean Duke, Eric Brock, Evan Brock, Josh (Jessica) Fielder, John Fielder and Jared Fielder, 1 Granddaughter - Lindsey (Jason) Fielder Austin and 3 Great- grandchildren - Lane Thomas Potts, Addison Claire Austin and Lily Claire Fielder. Honorary Pallbearers will be his Grandsons, Tuffy Bourland, Ed Atkins, Jimmy Coleman, Robert Fielder, Dr. Matthew Wade, Dr. John Stanback, Dr. Brad Brown and John Gillian and the Serendipity Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church, Columbus, MS, Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101.
