John W. Chain, 66, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2019, at his residence.

A visitation will be held Thursday, August 01, 2019 from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Eddie Finch officiating.

Mr. Chain was born July 22, 1953, in Columbus, MS, to the late Edward and Elizabeth Chain. He was Church of Christ by faith and Member of Vernon Church of Christ. In his younger days he had enjoyed hot rod cars as a hobby. He enjoyed fishing and had a love for vegetable gardening. Throughout his life he developed a love and talent for photography, spending time photographing people and nature. A devoted family man, he was a loving husband and father, he especially enjoyed his role as "Pappy John", as he was affectionately called by his grands. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Shelia Chain and one brother Raymond Owen Chain.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years Cindy Chain of Millport, AL; children- Sarah (Garrett) Harlan of Dallas, TX and Morgan (Randy) Barksdale of Columbus; step-children- Tim (Courtney) Williams of Columbus and Julie (Tommy) Williams of Millport; grandchildren- Eve Chatterjee, Elizabeth Mae Harlan, Michael and John Barksdale, Caitlin, Paige and Trey Williams and Tyler and Lanie Williams; brother- Michael (Alice) Chain; nephew- Charles (Joyce) Chain; and a host of extended family.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Weathers, Larry Thomason, Randy Luker, Danny Richardson, Rick McGill, Freddy Stella, Pastor Kenny Gardner.
