John David Pate

John David Pate, age 17, of Mathiston, Mississippi, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026. He was born December 16, 2008, in Tupelo, Mississippi. He was the devoted son of Cecil Steven Pate of Mathiston and Dawn McMillian Pate of Mantee.

John David is survived by his two sisters, Celia Pate Hoang (Toan) of Pearl and Jennah Claire Pate of Mantee. He was a loving uncle to Laura-Leigh Wade and Luke Leonard Massey, both of Mantee.

He was a member of Mantee Baptist Church, where he accepted Christ as his Savior on October 7, 2018. He was a junior at East Webster High School.

John David loved duck hunting, golfing, fishing, mud riding, playing pool, and video games, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends. He had a playful, mischievous spirit and a great sense of humor, often enjoying practical jokes. He was known for his warm smile, kind eyes, and the best hugs. His energy could light up any room, and he was deeply loved by all who knew him.

He especially enjoyed watching sports, cheering on East Webster High School and Mississippi State football and baseball. He spent much of his time helping others and will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and respect for those around him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the East Webster High School Gymnasium on April 26, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Following the service, there will be a time of fellowship and support
