John Walter Knie, 72, of Columbus, MS passed away Friday, July 2, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 6, 2021, from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel with Rev. Sandra DePriest officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Knie was born on December 25, 1948, in Caldwell, ID to the late Marie Preston Knie and John William Knie. Mr. Knie was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. He served in the United States Air Force for 20 years and retired as an MSGT. Mr. Knie enjoyed hunting and reading. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Knie is preceded in death by his brothers- Terry Knie, and Jimmy Knie; and sister- Mary Grove.

Mr. Knie is survived by his wife- Carole Salisbury Knie of Columbus, MS; daughters- Samantha (Don) Dickerson of Louisville, MS and Charlene (Clif) Swedenburg of Columbus, MS, grandchildren- Mackenzie Swedenburg, Winston Swedenburg, Preston Swedenburg, Carlie Swedenburg, Callie Dickerson, and Dalton Dickerson; sisters- Roslie Carter, Marjie (Dan) Rule, and Donna Bednorz; and brother- Gary (Kimberly) Knie.

Pallbearers will be Don Dickerson, Dalton Dickerson, Clif Swedenburg, Winston Swedenburg, Preston Swedenburg, and Clint Loudermilk.
