John Gilbert Moore, Sr., 89 of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, March 03, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 6, 2022, from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.  A graveside service will be held Sunday, March 6, 2022, at 2:30 PM at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Moore was born May 23, 1932, to the late Erving B. Moore and Alpha Belk Moore in Columbus, MS.  He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Columbus, MS, and a veteran of the United States Army where he served during the Korean Conflict.   Mr. Moore was an Optician for 42 years, the last eye center being Angelina Eye Center, Lufkin, TX.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his wife – Peggy Jean Moore, and sister – Pauline Clardy.

Mr. Moore is survived by his son – John G. Moore, Jr., Monroe, LA; daughter – Pamela Teresa Harwood, Tuscan, AZ; 2 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; sister – Maureen Coleman and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Pallbearers will be Donald McAdams, Charles Shelton, Dalton Knight, and Maquire Knight.  Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Bond, Joy Murphy, Nurses, and Staff of CCU, 5 ^th and 3 ^rd floor at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS.
