John Wayne Atkins, 68, of Columbus, MS passed away Saturday, October 14, 2017, at his residence.

Mr. Atkins was born December 7, 1948, in Mobile, AL to the late Claude Benson Atkins and Gladys Willine Crawford Atkins. He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, Columbus, MS. Mr. Atkins enjoyed fished and rescuing animals. He also supported organizations that cared for animals. Mr. Atkins worked as a warranty representative for Thomas Truck Leasing for 40 years.

Mr. Atkins is survived by his wife- Mary Catherine Atkins of Columbus, MS; daughters- Shawn (James) Faircloth of Belleview, FL, Becky (Steve) Keesler of Brookeville, MS, and Sherri (Chuck) Leonard of West Point, MS; grandchildren- Jessie (Jimmy) Burton, and Jordan Junkin; 4 great-grandchildren; and one brother- Bobby Atkins of Ethelsville, AL.
