John Porter Young, 79, of Columbus, MS, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023, at his residence.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Service will be Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 3:00 PM in the  Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS.

Mr. Young was born March 4, 1944, in Houston, MS, to the late Wade Young and Lillian Aven Young. He was a graduate of Calhoun City High School, Class of 1962. He played football and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Mr. Young was a District Insurance Representative for many years. Mr. Young was a Veteran. He was of Baptist faith and a member of Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS.

Mr. Young is survived by his wife- Mary Trim Young; daughters- Robin (Kenny) Shepherd, and Kelli (Josh) Andrews; grandchildren- Emily Shepherd, Cooper Shepherd, Eli Andrews, and Lily Andrews.

Honorary Pallbearers will be- George Webb, Buddy Slayton, Phil Poe, David Aven, Eli Andrews, and Cooper Shepherd.
