Johnny Eugene Gibson, 79, of Columbus, MS, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.

Graveside Service Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. at Friendship Cemetery in Columbus, MS. Lowndes Funeral is entrusted with all arrangements.

Mr. Gibson was born July 30, 1946, in Columbus, MS, to the late Annie Mae Walker Gibson and T.K. Gibson. He was a member of the National Guard Special Forces.

Mr. Gibson is survived by his wife of 60 years, Annie Ruth McGuff Gibson; son, Scott Gibson; 2 nieces, Danyale Walden (Danny) Buckles and Katherine Walden; and special great-nephew Cody Woychesin.
