Johnny B. Stapp Johnny Brooks Stapp, 77 of Steens, MS passed away Friday, February 18, 2011 at his residence. Visitation was held Sunday, February 20, 2011 from 6 – 8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services were held Monday, February 21, 2011 at 11 AM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS with Bro. Don Harding officiating. Interment was in Furnace Hill Cemetery, Vernon, AL with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Stapp was born April 25, 1933 in Lamar County, AL to the late Roy Lee and Menerva Gunnels Stapp. He was a resident of the Lowndes County Area since 1955, having moved from Vernon, AL. Mr. Stapp was a member of Kolola Springs Baptist Church, Caledonia, MS where he served as an usher. He was also a member of Community Hunting Club. Mr. Stapp served in the U.S. Marines and was a retired foreman with Columbus Warehouse and Storage with 40 years of service. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stapp is preceded in death by his sisters – May Bowen, Gertie Bowen, and Molley Harmon; and brothers – R.L. Stapp and Jack Stapp. Mr. Stapp is survived by his wife – Louise Stapp, Steens, MS; sons – Terry (Barbara) Stapp, Sulligent, AL; Mike (Gail) Stapp, Caledonia, MS; Wade (Teresa) Stapp, Columbus, MS; daughter – Vickie (Flipper) Chadwick, Caledonia, MS; ten grandchildren – Matt Stapp, Skyler Stapp, Lori Mounce, Coleman Stapp, Johnathon Stapp, Cody Stapp, Corey Stapp, Briana Stapp, Heather Chadwick, and Shane Chadwick; and two great grandchildren – Aaron Mounce and Michael Stapp. Pallbearers were Matt Stapp, Coleman Stapp, Johnathon Stapp, Cody Stapp, Corey Stapp, and Shane Chadwick. Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons of Kolola Springs Baptist Church.
