Jonathan Patrick Spainhour, 46, of Columbus, Ms passed away Friday, January 13, 2023, at Regency Hospital in Meridian, MS.

Visitation will be from 12:30-2:00 PM, Friday, January 20, 2023, at Fairview Baptist Church.  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, with Dr. Breck Ladd officiating.  The interment will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Jonathan was born on November 19, 1976, in St. Louis, MO to Pat and Lynn Spainhour.  He moved with his family to Columbus, MS in 1983, attending Brandon and Hughes Elementary Schools until 1988 when the family moved to Danville, CA.  There he attended middle school and two years of high school before the family moved to Lincoln Massachusetts, where he graduated from Lincoln-Sudbury High School in 1995.  During his high school years, he played on the school golf teams, served as a manager for the basketball team, and was a member of school choral groups.  After graduating from high school, he moved with his family to West Point, MS, where he attended East Mississippi Community College.

A faithful member of his church homes in each place he lived, he was a member of Fairview Baptist Church during the early years in Columbus and returned to Fairview in 1995.  Diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy in his twenties, Jon enjoyed life as he battled the advancing weakness of the disease.

Jon is preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard E. "Pete" Spainhour and Letha Spainhour and W.V. and Anne Weeks West, all of Columbus, MS.

He is survived by his parents and a sister, Jaimee Leanne Spainhour, and a number of beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Will West, Keith Hester, Wyn Diggs, Clint Dalrymple, Brad Williford, Chris Crawford, and Mark Sanderson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. James Woodard, Dr. Jack Hanson, Smitty Burks, Bob Spring, Larry Martin, Jimmy Turner, Jim Hamilton, Paul Sims, and Kent Shepherd.
