Joseph Robert King, age 86, of Columbus, MS, passed away on March 17, 2024, in Waveland, MS.  The visitation will be Friday, March 29, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at First Christian Church, Columbus, MS.  The memorial service will be Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 10:00 AM at First Christian Church, Columbus, MS with Pastor Lavelle Smith officiating.  Lowndes Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. King was born on July 11, 1937, in Wilmington, North Carolina to the late James Carlton King, Sr. and Evelyn Mildred Dukes King.  He received a Bachelor's Degree from Mississippi State University and worked for many years as a Loan Officer at First Federal Bank.  Mr. King also was an Air Force veteran.  He was a member of First Christian Church in Columbus, MS.  Also, he was a member of numerous organizations, including Green Oaks Golf Club, Emmaus, Gideons International, American Legion, and Kiwanis.

In addition to his parents, Mr. King is preceded in death by his son – Steven Scott King; and siblings – James C. King, Jr., Albert E. King, Virginia E. Mintz, and Rodney W. King.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years – Mary Jo King; daughter – Kathy (Ronnie) Good; grandchildren – Katelyn (Nick) Peters, Mary Katherine (Nate) Saint, Haley (Jared) Overby, and Steven (Celia) Good; and great-grandchildren – Caleb Saint, Noah Saint, Eden Saint, Raelynn Overby, Andrew Peters, and Lincoln Peters.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Box, William Box, Ronnie Good, Steven Good, Nate Saint, Jared Overby, Nick Peters, Mark Box, Chuck Box, and the Deacons and Elders of First Christian Church.
