Obituary

Judy Ann George, also known as Baby Sis or Moma passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025, peacefully in her sleep.

Visitation will be Friday, May 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS with a funeral service to follow in the chapel with Bro. Kenny Gardner officiating.  Interment will be at Egger Cemetery, Caledonia, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Judy was born May 24, 1956, in Mississippi to the late Price Redden Humbers and Lavern "Sis" Jordan Humbers.  She attended Caledonia School in her early years.  Judy then went on to work at McCoy Manufacturing in Caledonia.  She was always a dedicated worker and could do any job in the factory.  Judy was so good at her job, that she was often pulled to have to work in other locations.  She was strong-willed and the provider for her family.  Judy could be found hauling pulpwood with her husband and dad frequently.  She was a hard worker and was strong enough to do a man's job.  Judy would pick up a pulpwood stick bigger than her and load it on the truck with no problems. Later on in life, she ran the business, "Purple Chicken" for her mom and dad.  It was a bar that was built out of a school bus and painted purple by her with chickens running around.  Judy gave up the business later in years when business got slow.  She then continued her dedication to others by cleaning houses for the elderly.  After years of her own work, she then retired but went on to assist her daughter in selling paparazzi jewelry, online yard sales, and cleaning houses.  Judy enjoyed spending time with her family, and her dogs – Roxie, Bella, Daisy, Hazel Nut, Red, & B.J. loved yard sales, auctions, crafts, and nights out on the town.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Price and Sis Humbers, brother – Harold "DoPop" Humbers and little sister; grandparents – Allen & Para Lee Jordan of Caledonia.

Judy was a caring and amazing woman, who loved her husband – William, 2 children – Julie (Tommy) May and William "Nuck" George; her son-in-law – Tim May; grandchildren – Sherrie (Brett) Clayton, Dillon (Emily) May, Aimee (Colby) White, and Summer George.  Brother – A.C. (Hazel) Humbers; nephews – A.C. Humbers, Jr., and family, Bubba (Angela) Humbers and family,  and Kenneth Humbers and family. Cousin and best friend – Charlotte Humbers Cantrell, a family friend – Joyce Fowler, and many other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Dunham, Dillon May, Brett Clayton, Colby White, William Clay Hall, A.C. "Jr" Humbers, Tray Humbers, and Kenneth Humbers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim May, Charles Ray Hall, Henry Hall, Rena Hall, Jake Humbers, Larry Cantrell, Danny Jordan, Jethro Yarbrough, and Steve Vanzile.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. King & Associates, Columbus, MS, Internal Medicine (Joy Murphy and Staff) and Dr. Bennett, Ophtalmologist for all their kindness and love throughout her illness.

Moma will be missed by all who knew her, especially her family.  Until we meet her again, we will live on her memories.
