June Tuner Baird entered this world with a big smile on June 22, 1956 in Columbus, MS, and she lived her life with that same smile and a laugh until she was taken from us Monday, December 3, 2018 after a 5 month struggle with cancer.  She was 62 years young.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A memorial service will follow at a later date.

June was born to Mary Sue Jones Shelton and the late Jack Douglas Turner.  June is survived by her husband of 40 years, James Baird; son Jakob  Baird; daughter Jill Baird; mother Mary Sue Jones (David) Shelton; brother Mark (Anita) Turner; sisters Susan (Greg) Noland and Gail Pounders; and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom are now stumbling deep in the valley of the shadow of death where only God our Savior can lift us up.

June was a 1974 graduate of East Lowndes Academy, Columbus, MS and a member of New Salem Baptist Church, Caledonia, MS.  She enjoyed gospel music; she loved singing with the New Revivers singing group.  June was raised in the First Free Will Baptist Church where she played the piano.  She also played for Lighthouse Baptist Church and for McBee Baptist Church for many years.  June loved her family; she was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and friend.  She had a passion for sewing, shopping and sunflowers.  She collected all things with sunflowers.  June was an accomplished seamstress for over thirty years.  She made the curtains in the Lowndes Funeral Home, and maybe in your home, too.  June is likely already discussing drapery fabric choices with the angels in Heaven, helping to prepare Heaven for the rest of us.
