J.W. Dodson J.W. Dodson, 97 of Cordova, TN passed away Friday, May 11, 2012 at his residence. Visitation for Mr. Dodson was Sunday, May 13, 2012 from 5 - 7 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services were held Monday, May 14, 2012 at 11 AM at 7th Street Church of Christ, Columbus, MS with Bro. Eddie Cox officiating. Interment was in Memorial Garden Park, Starkville, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Dodson was born October 5, 1914 in Lowndes County, MS to the late Michael Aubrey and Atlena Jane Wheeler Dodson. He retired in 1977 from Seminole Manufacturing with 43 years of service. Mr. Dodson was a WWII veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a resident of Lowndes County for 96 years until moving to Cordova, TN one year ago. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dodson is preceded in death by his sisters - Polly D. Powers and Lois D. Smith; brothers - Roger, Elder, and Neil Dodson. Mr. Dodson is survived by his wife - Lois B. Dodson, Cordova, TN; step-children - Melba (Mike) Justice, Westminster, MD; Steve (Laura) Blair, Germantown, TN; Nancy (Steve) Glover, Lakeland, TN; grandchildren - Rachel (Ron) Fairchild, Christy (Joe) Vadder, Jeff Glover, Jake Glover, Grant (Lydia) Glover; great grandchildren - Adam Fairchild, Matthew Fairchild, Henry Vadder, Michael Vadder; nieces - Margaret (Scott) Hiers, Jane (Darrell) Riffel, Cornelia (William) Page; nephews - Bill (Peggy) Powers, Leo (Helen) Powers, Jr., Donald (Susan) Dodson, and Mike (Judy) Smith. Pallbearers were Mike Smith, Leo Powers, Donald Dodson, Jeff Glover, Jake Glover, and Grant Glover.
