Kenneth Paxton Linton, 89, of Columbus, MS passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at his residence.
Visitation will be Monday, May 10, 2021, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM with Bro. Mike Hall officiating and Bro. Tommy Gillon assisting. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Family request all attendees to wear a mask.
Mr. Linton was born on December 28, 1931, in Attapulgus, GA to the late Owen Paxton Linton and Mary Rebecca Ezell. Mr. Linton married the former Joyce Parker in Kemper, Co., MS on December 24, 1955. He was a part of the Lowndes County Prison Fellowship from 1987-2004, Kairos Prison Ministry at Parchman, MS 1994-Present, Kairos Torch Prison Ministry Walnut Grove, and taught Bible at Lowndes County Jail for many years. Mr. Linton was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and was a faithful Sunday School Teacher for over 25 years. He also taught Bible Devotion at Trinity Healthcare. Mr. Linton was in the United States Air Force, where he served in Korea and Vietnam and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant after 21 years. He worked for the Mississippi University for Women for over 20 years as a comptroller. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother- Jack Linton, and twin sister- Kathleen Leclair.
Mr. Linton is survived by his wife of 65 years- Joyce Parker Linton, Columbus, MS; daughters- Cherie (Rick) Coghlan of Starkville, MS, Carol (Mike) Hall of Mobile, AL; son- Rusty (Danielle) Linton of Madison, MS; grandchildren- Ben Adkison, Andy Adkison, Clay Adkison, Justin Hall, Lauren Seales, Trent Hall, Abbey Haydu, Anna Mayfield, Kendall Frame, Lily Linton, Lola Linton, Llayna Linton, Kristen Coghlan, Kaycee Coghlan; 20 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Pallbearers will be Ben Adkison, Justin Hall, Sean Haydu, Andy Adkison, Trent Hall, Clay Adkison, Josh Seales, Preston Mayfield, Elijah Frame. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Columbus Tombigbee Gideon's Camp, 80+ Sunday School Class at Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus Kairos Torch Prison Ministry Team.
