Larry Laverne Pyle, 66, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital GTR in Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Saturday, May 16, 2015 from 6pm-8pm at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will be Sunday, May 17, 2015 at 2pm at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Black officiating. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Pyle was born August 13, 1948 in Carmel, IL to Lawrence L. Pyle the late Betty Lou McGee Pyle. He joined the U. S. Air Force April 1968 and completed basic training at Lackland AFB in Lackland, TX. He completed technical training at Lowry AFB, Colorado. For the remainder of his service he was stationed at CAFB in Columbus, MS, working in base supply and the Civil Engineering Squadron. He received an honorable discharge in April 1972. He has lived in Columbus, MS for 47 years where he has worked for the U.S. Postal service, retiring in 2011. He attended St. Stephen Methodist Church in Columbus, MS. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, hunting, cooking, and he loved his children and grandchildren. Mr. Pyle is survived by his wife, Linda Pyle, Columbus, MS; sons: Jeff (Marisa) Pyle and Steve (Crystal) Pyle, stepson Curtis (Mikki) Homes, Hornlake, MS; sisters: Brenda Jokisch, DuQuion, IL and LaDonna Gard, Ringgold, GA; grandchildren: Jessica Pyle, Brent Pyle, Madison Pyle, Briley Pyle, Kennedy Pyle. Pallbearers will be Brent Pyle, Taylor Nelson, Reggie Wilden, Dennis Hearndon, Daniel Tedford, Dale Ray, and Bruce Jokisch. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Asamoah, Staff and Dr's of CCU at Baptist Memorial Hospital GTR, and fellow employees of the U.S. Postal Service, Columbus, MS.
