Laura Jean Boman Mason, 91, of Columbus, MS, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at her residence.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 10, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Service will be Sunday, March 10, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS with Bobby Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Columbus, MS, with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.

Mrs. Mason, also known as Sweet Sue, was born February 17, 1933, in Lowndes County, Mississippi, to the late Perry Boman and Era Boman. Mrs. Mason worked 44 years in the Dietary Department at Lowndes General Hospital, currently Baptist Memorial Hospital- GT. She was a hardworking mother of 10, great grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Mrs. Mason was a loving wife for 71 years.  She spent most of her life cooking and caring for her family. Later in life, she enjoyed playing BINGO and slots.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mason is preceded in death by her husband- John Mason, Sr.; daughters- Linda Burns and Joyce Knight; brothers- Dale Boman, Perry Boman, and Bill Boman; sisters- Shirley Cox, Elwanda Payne, and Hilda Brooks.

Mrs. Mason is survived by her children- Brenda Junkin, Loretta (Lamar) Harper, Frances (Patrick) Perrigin, Rebecca Both, Imogene Towery, John Mason, Jr., David Mason, and Judy Lane; 18 grandchildren, an abundance of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and brother – Thad Boman.

Pallbearers will be Jake Mahan, Dale Morrow, Ethan Perrigin, Caide Woods, Anthony Perrigin, Herman Junkin, Jr., and Zackary Morrow. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nurses and Staff of Legacy Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 in honor of Laura Boman Mason.
