Mrs. LaWanda McCool Garner, 61, of Columbus, MS passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022, at her home.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 27, 2022, 1:00 PM-2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will be at Furnace Hill Cemetery, Vernon, AL with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Garner was born July 11, 1960, to the late Robert McCool and Elsie Barham McCool, in Columbus, MS.  She was a stay-at-home mom before working as a social worker with the Salvation Army for 14 years.  Mrs. Garner also worked with McCarty Realty as an office administrator.

Mrs. Garner is survived by her husband – James M. Garner, Jr.; sons – Andrew Garner and Sean Garner; daughter Sarah ( Rhett) Culpepper; sister – Mary Evelyn (Doug) Barnes; brothers – Michael (Lyn) McCool and Bobby (Laura) McCool; and grandson – Henry Culpepper.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Elmore, Billy Knoop, Rhett Culpepper, Michael McCool, Bobby McCool, and Doug Barnes.
